We have an opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer. The successful candidate should be prepared to help provide world-class products and service to a diverse customer base, including many leading medical device manufacturers.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities.

  • Design prototype and production machinery referenced from a baseline of stated specifications
  • Design and develop automated and production process systems consisting of complex components and subsystems such as hydraulic, pneumatic, servo, robotics and machine vision
  • Ensure all designs are safe, effective, reliable and meet compliance standards (OSHA, NEC, NFPA) where applicable
  • Support of PLC controlled equipment by means of creating process sequence of operations and/or other required documents
  • Maintain appropriate engineering drawing files and project management documents in the Engineering Database, SolidWorks Enterprise PDM
  • Prepare Bill of Materials, Training Manuals and Spare Parts List for new equipment
  • Assist in transition of new equipment installations to various Zeus manufacturing facilities
  • Provide estimates for projects, which include budget and man-hours
  • Must participate in cross-functional projects with Manufacturing, Research, Development and Sales

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required.

  • Must possess a 4 year B.S.M.E. or B.S.M.E.T. Degree
  • Minimum 5 years mechanical design experience in manufacturing environment
  • Must be capable of troubleshooting equipment, processes and tooling issues, both hands-on and analytically
  • Strong knowledge and thorough experience with 3D Mechanical Design software: SolidWorks and a PLM/PDM Database and/or SolidWorks Enterprise PDM
  • Excellent troubleshooting, problem solving, written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Working knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and simulation
  • Capable of creating and presenting formal reviews of equipment and/or systems to cross-functional teams
  • Capable of managing and leading projects from concept to completion
