The Senior Manager of Field Application Engineering job description includes, but is not limited to developing and managing a Field Applications Engineering organization to support and increase sales:

  • Hire and train a Field Applications Engineering team
  • Drive design win activities for all of Zeus' products and capabilities at major OEMs, contract manufacturers, and technology start-ups to build a solid sales pipeline
  • Direct team-based field applications communications and development activities with quality, operations, R&D, and product management teams using the CRM, groupware and email.
  • Lead customer education activities such as technical meetings, seminars and workshops to create new technical leads, increase design wins and drive NPI sales.
  • Equip the Field Applications Engineering team to drive Continuous Improvement and Value Improvement Programs with customers that solidifies our strong position with customers and in the market.


  • Lead an organization of Field Application Engineers providing support to our sales teams and customers.
  • Work closely with the entire Zeus customer-facing team, including global account management and territory sales management, as well as quality, operations, R&D, and product management to coordinate field application engineering activities.
  • Shepherd critical customer issues and provide timely advance warning of critical issues that need attention.
  • Provide technical expertise on all Zeus products and capabilities directly supporting sales, and working closely with the team to secure design wins, and to lead the support of the product from early stage customer NPD through product end of life.
  • Nurture the growth of direct reports, including supervision, training, and mentoring.


  • 10 years of experience in the medical device industry in a design role or technical customer support role, as well as previous relevant team leadership or team management experience.
  • S. in Engineering, Chemistry or Physics or equivalent work experience
  • Comfortable in a hands-on technical environment
  • In-depth knowledge of polymers and materials engineering beneficial
  • Product design and engineering
  • Project management and strategic selling skills
  • Sales and applications development management experience
  • Proficiency in managing CRM systems and strategic selling
  • Industry Product Development Process (PDP) knowledge
  • Regulatory approval process knowledge
  • Creative problem solving and quality tools applications
  • Cost-benefit analysis
  • Team building and management
  • Advanced degree preferred
  • Travel requirement 35% to 40%
