General Summary:

Under general supervision provides operational and administrative support to staff and employees. Responsible for administration of employee benefits in all operations. As needed, provides special guidance and assistance on various employee benefit plans. Installs new or modified plans and employee benefit policies. Administration of existing plans and employee benefit policies.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Administers employee benefits programs such as basic hospital, medical, surgical, and major medical plans; term life insurance plans; temporary disability programs; and accidental death policies.
  • Installs approved new plans and changes by preparing announcements material, booklets, and other media for communicating new plans to employees. Assists with employee meetings and arranges for enrollment of employees in optional plans. Revises and reissues all communications material on benefits from time to time. Advises and counsels management and employees on existing benefits.
  • Assures that existing and new benefit programs are adaptable to standard computer and reporting systems.
  • Handles benefit inquiries and complaints to ensure quick, equitable, courteous resolution. Maintains contact in person, and by phone or mail, with hospitals, physicians, insurance companies, employees, and beneficiaries to facilitate proper and complete utilization of benefits for all employees in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Enter and update information in medical/dental insurance system
  • Track medical/dental insurance activity monthly and approve the billing
  • Maintain FMLA/Short-term Disability/Workers' Comp for employees
  • Generate and update Lost Hours Report
  • Track and log vacations in Oracle and Kronos
  • Log Points in Oracle and send notices
  • Create new hire packets
  • Process terminations
  • Order and disburse uniforms
  • Send out birthday cards, order and pick up birthday cakes
  • Set up refreshments for visitors
  • Help scan jobs as needed
  • Act as back up to answer front office phone
  • Generate purchase requisitions
  • Keep inventory of supply closet in front office
  • Performs miscellaneous job related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

  • Bachelor's degree in business or human resources management, preferred. Certified Employers Benefits (CEB) specialist designation desired.
