General Summary:


Develops and executes strategies which align with the overall mission and strategy of the site. Adopts innovative best practices and policies that will service the full range of HR needs for both hourly and salaried team members and help build a high-performing culture of success, accountability, and collaboration. Executes strategies for effective workforce planning, recruitment, employment, assimilation and training, team member relations, compensation, and benefits. Coordinates implementation of key corporate strategies and HR programs. Assists and advises site leadership on a broad range Human Resources issues. Reports to the HR Director of the business unit.



Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Acts as an HR partner to all members of the site leadership team, and provides insightful, innovative thinking and problem solving on a broad range of HR issues.
  • Develops strategies and local plans to attract and retain talent to enable the execution of site strategies. Determines and recommends team member relations practices necessary to establish an extremely positive employer-team member relationship and promote a high level of team member engagement.
  • Provides HR consultation to team members on a broad range of topics, including payroll, benefits, and HR policies and procedures.
  • Conducts investigations to support resolution of team member concerns.
  • Leads the effective implementation of corporate talent management programs and practices.
  • Diagnoses leadership capability gaps at the site.
  • Work with internal and external resources to create and implement leadership development programs.
  • Serves as a key leader in building and implementing diversity and inclusion programs for the site
  • Coordinates the local workforce plan and actively engages in selection decisions.
  • Serves as key advisor on effective change management and stakeholder engagement plans for the site.
  • Adopts effective and standard HR processes which incorporate external best practices and innovative HR solutions.
  • In partnership with Operations training leadership, makes recommendations on internal and external training to support the business unit strategies. Supports in defining site specific training programs and initiatives. Partners closely on the coordination of training schedule to meet the site needs.
  • Provides feedback and recommendations regarding benefits and other aspects of the team member value proposition.
  • Monitors exposure of the site for various legal and government compliance regulations.
  • Monitors changes in the marketplace and law that impact Human Resources policies, programs, and practices. Keeps site leadership informed of developments and makes recommendations for necessary changes.
  • Actively participates in HRIS/HCM improvements and makes recommendations on process improvements to leverage productivity and effectiveness of HR technology. Promotes the use of HR technology to improve department performance and efficiency. Ensures that the team member experience is positive and user friendly with all HR technology.
  • Leverages analytics which bring actionable insights on current and future human capital matters. (e.g., retirement trends, engagement trends)
  • Implements reporting and dashboards to measure and monitor HR initiatives. Prepares reporting to site leadership or business unit leadership on key matters or updates.
  • Partners closely with leaders in Environmental, Safety and Health on implementation of EHS initiatives.
  • Actively lead, participate, and organize, teams and projects in order to meet site objectives of the business and support community outreach

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Human Resources or equivalent.
  • 7+ years HR experience including operations experience
  • Demonstrated experience in fostering a healthy, team member-first culture where all individuals feel valued and engaged. Proven capability conducting complex internal investigations, monitoring for trends, and effective resolution of diagnosed needs.
  • Strong communications and change management skills. Demonstrated experience with effective change management and implementation of new HR initiatives, as well as advising site leadership on change management.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and connect with a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Strong analytics skills. Demonstrated experience with diagnosing of human capital issues and effective resolution of such issues.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law, and compensation and benefit programs.
  • Demonstrated experience with creative job search techniques, experience in recruitment of operations, technical and engineering team members.
  • Experience in facilitation of training and implementation of HR programs.
  • Comfort in leading multi-faceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities.
  • Extremely well-organized with good reasoning abilities. Ability to establish credibility throughout all levels of the organization.
  • Strong computer skills including HRIS systems, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Flexible working schedule to meet the needs of site based on various operational schedules
  • Knowledge of workers compensation and OSHA Reporting
