General Summary:

A results-oriented technical expert in the field of PTFE extrusion practices with a proven background of continuous improvement.  Must have the ability to generate ideas/concepts and develop plans for implementation. Assists in the creation and execution of best practices and business goals for the PTFE extrusion process. Provide technical assistance to other functional groups within the organization.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the implementation of new manufacturing processes, product technology, and systems technology to align with strategic objectives and improve value added work.
  • Assist in establishing, communicating and implementing operational standards for throughput, cost control, waste reduction, quality, and on-time delivery.
  • Observe all safety rules and regulations.
  • Maintain good communications within the company and facility to facility.
  • Ensure site management teams are trained in the technical aspects of PTFE processes.
  • Conduct training on changes to standardize processes at each affective site following the TWI Job Instruction 4 step method.
  • Review with site management team's technical knowledge deficits and recommend training needed. 
  • Work with the Organizational Development Department on defining technical training needs for sites or teams.
  • Work with shop floor operators, quality personnel, and manufacturing staff to develop robust processes in order to implement and sustain best business practices across all facilities.
  • Facilitate cross-functional teams to maintain and continually improve the plant manufacturing systems.
  • Evaluate current processes to identify opportunities to eliminate, modify, or reduce non-value added activities and reduce variation.



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

  • Bachelor of Science or equivalent work experience (preferred in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering). Project management experience is a plus. Plastics extrusion or medical device manufacturing experience a plus. 
  • Strong analytical skills 
  • Mechanical aptitude with desire to be "Hands On"
  • Experience with precision machining and tooling
  • Demonstrated ability to build consensus among peers to develop a standardize processes
  • Desire to lead and develop the manufacturing management team at each facility. Excellent communication skills are a must.
  • Experience identifying training needs at all levels within a site
  • Passion for standardizing processes that produce product an ensuring standards are followed
  • Familiarity with ISO 9000:2001, FDA GMP.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated success at numerous shop floor improvement activities
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma/Lean Manufacturing methodology.  
  • Ability to travel to site locations as required.
