General Summary:

The Product Development Engineer will be responsible for interacting with manufacturing, Sales, and customers regarding product development.  Evaluating resources to accomplish the customer's objectives through supervising the project and technical staffing.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervising the Development Technicians for day-to-day operations
  • Monitor and control the development production schedule to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Interact with Sales and customer to extract relevant information necessary to design product
  • Negotiate drawing tolerances for manufacturability of product
  • Determine whether Zeus has the necessary equipment to produce the desired part
  • Use CAD to design tooling to make product to customer specifications
  • Use CAD to design tubing input to meet customer requirements for finished part
  • Create and track work orders in Electronic Database for CMS to produce required tooling
  • Create and track non-standard jobs in Oracle to produce required tubing input to validate tooling
  • Search Oracle Custom Item Search function to determine if input or jars exist which will meet customer product requirements
  • If required, create jar recipes to meet customer requirements for pantones
  • Define product properties and process operation parameters
  • Assist Engineering/Development technicians to validate prototype tooling
  • Follow-up with Engineering/Development Technicians to ensure production data is updated on Item Request upon completion of Development job
  • Verify Item Request and Engineering drawings are accurate
  • Reflect the lessons learned during the development run to build knowledge base
  • Troubleshoot processes to determine root cause and implement corrective actions required to process product through secondary processes.
  • Maintain project history files and issue project reporting summary
  • Participate in Zeus Sales Travel Team


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

  • BS Engineering, minimum
  • Process and product development experience
  • Conceptual tooling and fixture design skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Skilled in CAD, Electronic Database, Oracle, word processing, spreadsheets, data collection and analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral
  • Must function well within a team oriented organizational environment
  • Detail and results oriented
