General Summary:

Supervises the facility maintenance and janitorial personnel.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides hands on supervision of the Maintenance shop.
  • Maintains optimum inventory levels for all maintenance department supplies, spare parts, and tooling raw materials.
  • Confers with the Maintenance Manager at the beginning of each day to discuss work priorities, job requirements and any other issues.
  • Conducts daily shift meetings to convey assignment priorities, notifications, safety/technical training topics, and to assist team members in resolving issues in an open forum.
  • Reports daily downtime/repair report to management for previous 24 hours.
  • Ensures all employees follow safe work practices at all times.
  • Ensures all employees and associated contractors correctly document all activities.
  • Inspects work of all employees and contractors to ensure timely completion and quality of assigned work.
  • Participates in the interview process of maintenance team candidates.
  • Schedules and implements maintenance orientation and training for all assigned personnel.
  • Coaches' employees through minor disciplinary problems and issues written warnings, with the Maintenance Manager's approval, bringing more severe or unresolved issues to the attention of Human Resources, as necessary.
  • Implement improvement plans for maintenance staffing, future direction, and continuous improvement, as directed by the Maintenance Manager.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to the plant P.M. system.
  • Direct emergency, janitorial, and scheduled PM maintenance activities of the physical plant, property and production equipment.
  • 5S and continuous improvement champion for appropriate areas.
  • May substitute for Maintenance Manager in his/her absence.
  • Perform miscellaneous tasks and special projects as assigned.



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong organizational, time management, interpersonal and supervisory skills
  • Must possess 10 years prior plant maintenance experience.
  • Strong problem solving, troubleshooting, and project management skills with multiple projects/issues ongoing at one time.
  • Functional experience in maintaining spare parts inventories
  • Computer proficient in Excel, Word, e-mails and CMMS programs (prefer MP2).
  • Proven experience and leadership ability with interactions across various functions.
  • Strong multi-skilled experience, especially mechanical and electrical.
  • Physical fitness to perform supervisory/inspection duties.
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this position.  Any unscheduled absence or tardy will have a negative impact on our ability to meet our production objectives.
